Frequently Asked Questions
Prep:
Shower, shave and exfoliate (with a mitt or glove) the night before your spray tan. Moisturize heavily this day, paying special attention to knees, elbows, ankles and wrists. Use a razor without a fresh moisture strip as this can leave behind residue. Avoid all Dove products prior to tan. We recommend Raw Sugar and Native brands for soap, and Vanicream for lotion. What to bring to your appointment:
You may undress to your comfort level. It's best to bring a swim suit, underwear or bra you do not mind discoloring. Disposable undergarments are available. Bring loose fitting, dark clothing and flip flops to leave in. Preferably no tank tops, leggings or shorts. Long pants and long sleeve shirts are best.
All other beauty services should be completed at least 1 day BEFORE your tan (waxing, massage, nails, eyelashes, etc). It's best to schedule your tan 2 days before a big event.
Please come to your appointment with clean skin, free of sweat and deodorant (and makeup if you want your face sprayed). Deodorant and sweat residue will turn your tan green!
While your spray tan is processing, it's very important to not sweat or get wet until your recommended rinse time as provided by your spray tan technician. Moisturize twice a day and do not exfoliate until you are ready to remove your tan. When choosing a moisturizer, look for the following products or ingredients: Shea butter, Fragrance-free, Aloe-vera, Coconut oil (avoid mineral oil!).
You are welcome to wear as little or as much as you like! If you want to wear a bathing suit or undergarments, dark is best. Disposable bras and underwear are available for your use as well. For going home, bring loose fitting, dark clothing and flip flops. Preferably no tank tops or shorts.
Depending on your type of tan, your technician will give you specific showering instructions. Rapid solutions allow you to rinse between 2-5 hours (depending on how dark you want to be) but the color will continue to develop for 12-24 hours. If you plan to sleep in your spray tan solution, or can not rinse in 2-5 hours, we will use a solution that allows you to wear it 8+ hours after your appointment without over processing (perfect for those that like to sleep in their tans).

Expecting clients should ALWAYS consult their doctor prior to scheduling their spray tan. Technicians can supply the client with an ingredient list of the product which will be utilized in the service, this way the doctor can fully understand the product being applied. It's best to bring a doctor’s note to your spray tan. Take into consideration, pregnancy can cause many hormonal imbalances which may affect the spray tan, which can cause unevenness, light development or no development. It is best to avoid rapid solutions while pregnant because of this reason, as you may not see optimal results. The FDA currently approves and regulates DHA for external use only and does not approve for internal consumption. To comply with FDA regulations, protection in the form of nose filters, disposable underwear/bras and an extraction system are available.
DHA and cosmetic bronzer is transferable during development. The client should avoid breastfeeding until the first shower when the bronzer is rinsed off. Ideally, it is best the client wear a bra or bikini top during the spray tan. This way the nipple is not exposed allowing for the infant to ingest. Nipple covers are also available upon request.
